How to Make Aromatherapy Oil for Insomnia

Aromatherapy consists of diverse mixtures of carrier oils and essential oils which may have healing benefits. You can heat aromatherapy oils in diffusers, stir them into baths and rub them on the skin. If you have trouble sleeping or suffer from insomnia, try this natural aromatic combination.

Things You'll Need:

6-oz. dark glass bottle

Small pot of water

3 tbsp. sweet almond oil

2 tbsp. jojoba oil

1 tsp. vitamin E oil

10 drops clary sage essential oil

15 drops lavender essential oil

5 drops petitgrain essential oil

1

Sterilize the bottle. Remove the cap and place it and the bottle in a pot of water. Bring the water to a rolling boil. Leave the bottle in the water for a full minute, and then turn off the heat. Allow the water to cool and then remove the bottle and cap and leave them upside-down to drain and dry.

2

Mix the oils in your glass bottle. Combine 3 tbsp. of sweet almond oil, 2 tbsp. of jojoba oil and 1 tsp. of vitamin E oil. Create the soothing, sleep-inducing fragrance by adding 10 drops of clary sage essential oil, 15 drops of
lavender
essential oil and 5 drops of petitgrain essential oil.

3

Place the lid on your bottle and shake gently. Shake the bottle gently 2 or 3 times a day for 3 days to blend the aromas blend. Store your aromatherapy oil in a cool, dark place.

Tips & Warnings

Choose the highest possible quality of carrier oils for your aromatherapy oils. Virgin and extra virgin oils are generally the best and should be stored in a cool, dark place. If all of your ingredients are fresh and your oil is made properly, your aromatherapy oils should last 18 months or more.
