How to Make Aromatherapy Oil for Nighttime Colds
The long hours of the night may be the worst time for a cold, as congestion and your cough combine to produce restlessness and exhaustion. You can make your own aromatherapy oil remedy to deal with these symptoms.
Things You'll Need:
6-oz. dark glass bottle
Small pot of water
3 1/2 tbsp. sweet almond oil
1 1/2 tbsp. jojoba oil
1 tsp. vitamin E oil
15 drops lavender oil
10 drops clary sage oil
5 drops tea tree oil
1
Mix and store your aromatherapy oil in a 6-oz. dark glass bottle. Remove the cap from the bottle and submerge both in a small pot of water. Heat the water to a rolling boil and leave the bottle and cap in for at least 1 minute. Turn off the heat and allow the water to cool before removing the bottle and cap and leaving them upside down to drain and dry.
2
Mix the oils in your bottle. Combine 3 1/2 tbsp. of sweet almond oil, 1 1/2 tbsp. of jojoba oil and 1 tsp. of vitamin E oil. Add to the mix 15 drops of
lavender
essential oil, 10 drops of clary sage essential oil and 5 drops of tea tree oil.
3
Cap the bottle and shake gently. You can use the oil immediately, but shake the bottle 2 or 3 times a day for the first 3 days. Store the oil in a cool, dark location and shake gently before using.
Tips & Warnings
Rub your aromatherapy oil on your chest, heat it in a diffuser before sleeping or drizzle it into a warm bath to help ease the symptoms of nighttime colds.
Use only fresh carrier oils and essential oils to make your nighttime cold remedy. Your oil should last at least 18 months.
